Food and Accommodation
Jomsom Muktinath Tour is amazingly accessible for yummy meals and various forms of accommodation. There are restaurants on the way, coffee shops, and a bakery in the Mustang region. Mustang is extremely popular for Thakali Khana set (rice, lentil, veg curry, Papad, pickle, etc).
Hotels in Mustang vary as per your budget. Even the basic lodges are clean and tidy. They offer nice hospitality. Most of the rooms have attached bathrooms, where you can take a hot shower. Some of the hotels are so luxurious that you can sleep in great comfort.
Marpha and Tukuche Apple Orchards
Tukuche and Marpha are picturesque villages that include wide ranges of apple and apricot orchards. Marpha is an antique village, where one can explore the olden gullies, explore the monastery, and hike around. Missing a chance to explore the Marpha village is a great miss in the Mustang Jeep Tour.
Jomsom, the District Center of Mustang
Jomsom is a bit crowded town, which is the district center of the Mustang region. It has a tiny Himalayan airport facing Mt. Nilgiri and Tilicho Peaks. There will be flights in the morning from Pokhara, which is a short Himalayan flight of 20 minutes. Jomsom has nice hotels and lodges, a bakery, banks and ATMs, fruit and wine shops, grocery, and vegetable shops.
Dhumba Lake
It is located 5 km South of Jomsom, at the lap of Mt. Nilgiri. The beautiful Lake is one of the prime attractions in Lower Mustang.
The lake is considered sacred by Buddhists and Hindu pilgrims. According to the legend, once the lake changed to red color. A Buddhist monk performed some rituals and turned it back to natural color. Due to the religious belief, the fishes of the lake is not consumed.
Kagbeni
Kagbeni is an antique and culturally significant town for pilgrimage seekers. It is situated at the juncture of two Rivers- The Kaligandaki River and Kag Khola the sangam thal (kali and gandaki river). The village is itself so picturesque, but it is spiritually significant too. People perform Pitri Shradda, to remember the dead parents.
Muktinath Temple and Premises
A spiritual center for the Hindu and Buddhist devotees around the world, the Muktinath temple is an iconic pilgrimage destination. The main shrine is dedicated to Lord Visnu. Mukti- means salvation. Nath- means, God. So, it is believed that if you pay homage to the Muktinath temple, you will get rid of all the sins. You can take a holy bath under 108 water spouts, dip in the ponds, and worship in the temple.
